Police identify man found dead on Florida Atlantic University campus in Boca Raton

Police do not suspect foul play was involved

Florida Atlantic University police today identified the man found in an on-campus apartment as Kyle Ramstrum.

Maj. Sean Brammer, of the FAU Police Department, said Tuesday that police hadn't determined the cause of death but added that no foul play was suspected and he didn't think it was a suicide.

Police received a call at 1:11 p.m. that someone at University Village Apartments was unresponsive. FAU and Boca Raton authorities determined the man was dead.

FAU Police Capt Gary Palmer said Ramstrum, 20, is a former student. Brammer said he was visiting the campus apartment in Building 60, at 20th Street and Florida Atlantic Boulevard.

Several students said Tuesday that they saw police at the apartments but didn't know what was going on.

"It's kind of creepy," said Stephen Drew, 21, an FAU student who lives at University Village Apartments. "You hear about these things, but when they happen where you live, it's surprising."

Samantha Normil, 20, was also shocked. "This school is pretty laid back. Things like this don't usually happen."

University Village Apartments was the site of another incident on April 30, a shooting that closed the campus for a day.

Police arrested Omar Everton Graham Jr., 23, of Royal Palm Beach, saying he brought a gun to a campus party and started shooting during a fight. The incident left one person with minor injuries.
