City History
Michigan native Maj. Nathan S. Boynton, a Civil War veteran, founded the city of Boynton in 1895. The following year the Florida East Coast Railroad finally reached Boynton, and the area soon became a major supplier of tomatoes and pineapples. By 1941, the city changed its name to Boynton Beach. Soldiers returning home from WWII discovered that the small town located only fifty miles north of Miami was a nice place to raise a family. More
