Assistant Sales Manager - Retail Outbound
The Sun-Sentinel, a subsidiary of Tribune Company, is seeking an Assistant Sales Manager for our newly created Retail Outbound department.
Position Responsibilities:
Supervise and provide leadership to a team of sales representatives in setting short term goals.
Developing and implementing the Sun-Sentinel's newspaper sales strategies and programs to optimize market share and advertising revenues.
Direct the development and performance of the local sales representatives through training and performance management.
To grow revenue and market share through new business development and from current assigned advertisers within South Florida, by providing creative and innovative solutions to selling challenges.
To maintain a full understanding of all aspects of a client's business including but not limited to: strategies, media expenditures, corporate philosophy, selling cycles, target audience, media mix, merchandising, and key decision makers.
Keep current and observe all advertising policies and procedures. This includes but is not limited to rates, terms and conditions, mechanical specifications, days of publications, geographic coverage, deadlines, copy acceptability, credit and collections of all Sun-Sentinel products and subsidiary products.
Requirements:
Typically requires an undergraduate degree in marketing, advertising or communications or equivalent related experience and/or 5-7 years related experience in the advertising or marketing industry. Strong negotiation and presentation skills. Must demonstrate leadership and have the ability to manage a team toward common goals. Must be analytical, computer literate and knowledgeable on CMR data. Must be adaptable and able to work in a rapidly evolving industry. Ability to multi-task a must. Working knowledge of media industry resource tools such as but not limited to: ABC audits, Scarborough, Arbitron, Claritas, Microvision, and Direct Marketing Tools. Must be able to plan and organize multiple projects, assign priorities, analyze situations and develop creative solutions. Requires a valid driver's license and accessible transportation to visit clients and branch office and may require some out-of-market travel.
