In the 1920s, films in the United States flourished with the rise of Hollywood, in southern California. Films, featuring "movie stars," are distributed by movie studios, which are large production companies. Movie reviews, written by film critics, appear regularly via numerous media outlets and can have a major effect on the success of a film and how much money is made.
